But every year we cancelled, to the extent that Salalah started sounding like a myth; a city that didnt exist. But this year, after coming very close to being cancelled again – WE BROKE THE JINX. Travelled for 1237 kms, on long dark roads filled with sand dunes and camels we headed towards Salalah and boy was it EPIC! Welcomed by fine rain like mist, green trees and cows (yes, cows!) living at the Marriott with free breakfasts, hunting for food for 3 hours, playing pool volleyball and badminton, letting out whoops of joy when seeing LULU, exploring ruins, making friends with Kate, Jack and Emily, walking and driving through clouds, experiencing angry sea waves that were 15 feet or more high, seeing Wadi Darbat in all its natural lush glory and the resting place of Job surrounded by sprawling hills covered by every imaginable shades of green.
